Bamboo
is a member of the grass family, with stalks that grow up
to 100 feet. Like rattan, bamboo has a tough outer coat that
is stripped off to make cane, and is sometimes used as framing
for wickerwork.
The stalks are also used to make furniture. However, because
bamboo is hollow, it isn't as strong as its solid cousin. And,
unlike rattan, the joints of the bamboo stalk are susceptible
to moisture and need to be sealed.
